Epic Games responds after massive store leak

Just yesterday, we reported on a massive leak which appeared to have taken place through the Epic Games Store thanks to a new website known as EpicDB. Using 3rd-party tools, the site was able to uncover a massive list of unannounced titles present in the EGS back-end. The site has since been taken down, with Epic Games officially commenting on the matter.
In a statement released to VGC, Epic Games revealed that they have updated their store to prevent such leaks in the future, saying:
“We released an update so third-party tools can't surface any new unpublished product titles from the Epic Games Store catalogue.”

For the uninitiated, in using EpicDB, players were able to search for any and all publishers present on the site, unveiling a lengthy list of titles and code names for games which have yet to be announced. Some of the leaked titles included a Turok game from Saber Interactive; Red Dead Redemption 1 for the PC; The Last of Us Part II Remastered for PC; the much-rumoured Final Fantasy 9 Remake and more.
While you can’t put the toothpaste back into the tube when it comes to all that was revealed, Epic’s relatively rapid response is one which publishers are likely relieved to see – even if it is a little too late.
KitGuru says: What do you think of the leaks? Could Epic Games have prevented this sooner? Which of the leaked titles are you most looking forward to? Let us know down below. The post Epic Games responds after massive store leak first appeared on KitGuru.
