Whitney Purvis' son Weston's stepmom has shared new details about the 16-year-old's death.
On Monday, June 2, Amy Gosa shared a post on Facebook after Purvis announced the death of her 16-year-old son, Weston. "Its [sic] really difficult to write this but this morning little Weston passed away," Gosa, Weston's stepmom, wrote.
"We do not know the cause, they will do an autopsy soon but all we know is we got up this morning around 7 am and tried to wake him up," she continued. "He was not breathing, we attempted cpr and called an ambulance. The paramedics attempted it as well and took him to the hospital in Gordon County where he was pronounced dead."
"He had several health issues as well as diabetes," said Gosa. "We are completely heartbroken and in shock. It was so unexpected."

Weston's stepmom went on to say that losing a child is one of "the most painful" things she's ever experienced and called him the "most amazing son" she could have asked for.
"It doesn't feel real," added Gosa, who asked that others keep their family and Purvis in their thoughts as they mourn.
That same day, Purvis announced that her son had died in her own emotional Facebook post. “This is so hard to write. My beautiful son, Weston has passed away. He was only 16 years old. Life is so cruel and unfair. I just dont understand. Oh my baby is gone and I don't know what to do with myself,” her announcement began.
"He was so perfect. This is really my worst nightmare come true. How do you go on in life after losing a child? I'm in disbelief, this cannot be happening. I don't want it to be real,” she wrote. “I would do anything just to hold him. Words just can't describe the pain I am feeling.”
She continued, “I love you so much, Weston Owen Gosa. God, I love you so much. You are my heart. I was so proud of the young man you were becoming. I just can't go on without you. Rest in Peace, my angel. You are gone too soon. April 2, 2009 - June 2, 2025.”

She added a second Facebook post, which included a photo of the mother and son smiling as they embraced one another.
"Rest in Peace, my baby Weston. I love you forever, precious. I'll never understand why life has to be so cruel. You'll always be my baby,” the caption read. At the time, Purvis did not reveal the cause of death.
Whitney and Weston Sr. welcomed their son on April 2, 2009, during the first season of the MTV show, 16 and Pregnant. The couple broke up and then rekindled before giving birth to their second son, River, in 2014. After welcoming River, they broke up again.
In the years since their relationship, Whitney lost custody of both boys. She was arrested in 2024 for allegedly failing to make child support payments, per TMZ.
