Greg The Leg got the boot.
The Jets released kicker Greg Zuerlein on Friday in a move that has been expected.
Zuerlein had a terrible 2024 season, missing six field-goal attempts in only eight games played.
His 2024 season will be remembered for critical missed kicks against the Broncos, Bills and Patriots.
Zuerlein, 37, joined the team in 2022 and solidified a position that had been a mess for the Jets for several years.
He only missed three field goals in 2023, and the Jets rewarded him with a two-year, $8.4 million contract last offseason that included $4.2 million in guarantees — the biggest contract for a kicker in team history.

By releasing Zuerlein, the Jets clear $2.4 million in salary cap savings.
He will carry a dead cap charge of $2.3 million in 2025.
Zuerlein landed on injured reserve in October last year after he missed a 44-yard field goal and an extra point in a 25-22 loss in New England.

That came after he missed a potential game-winning 50-yard field goal in a one-point loss to the Broncos in September.
He also missed field goals from 32 and 43 yards in a loss to the Bills.
The Jets have Anders Carlson under contract at kicker.
Carlson made 8 of 10 field-goal attempts in five games at the end of last season with the Jets.
The team likely will bring in competition for Carlson this spring or summer.
They also signed Caden Davis, an undrafted free agent from Mississippi.
Zuerlein joins punter Thomas Morstead as veteran special teamers released by the Jets this week.
Morstead’s release was more of a surprise than Zuerlein’s.

New Jets coach Aaron Glenn has made the roster younger since his arrival, and this was another step in that process.
The Jets also announced they signed defensive end Michael Fletcher.
