Supporting women’s rights is a top priority for female daters
In honor of the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, OkCupid data reveals what women are prioritizing in a matchFifty years ago on January 22nd, 1973, the United States Supreme Court legalized abortion in the landmark case of Roe v. Wade. But in June of last year, that landmark decision was overturned, bringing the topic of women’s rights back to the forefront. Over the past year, the fight for reproductive rights has become a trending conversation in the media, on social platforms, and especially on our dating app.An overwhelming majority of women on OkCupid (87%) are pro-choice. About half (49%) of women on OkCupid say that a difference in opinion about abortion would make them think twice about dating someone. In fact, differing views on abortion are more polarizing than competing views on politics (30%) and the death penalty (6%). Most (69%) women feel they should have legal decision-making power in abortion decisions.
