2 arrested after man killed, teen stabbed in Cranston
CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Police arrested two suspects after a man was intentionally run over by a car and a teenager was stabbed in Cranston early Friday morning.
Cranston Police Maj. Todd Patalano said officers were called to the intersection of Oak and Trainor streets to investigate reports of a disturbance near Cooney Playground.
Patalano said the officers arrived to find a 15-year-old boy suffering from a stab wound to his back. The teenager was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.
The officers also watched a man, later identified as 24-year-old Edwin Torres, intentionally run over someone with his car. The victim, identified by Patalano as 21-year-old Isaac Vasquez, was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
"The officers did witness a lot of [what happened], especially the person being struck," Patalano said.

Investigators believe Destiny Torres, 23, stabbed the 15-year-old boy and then hopped into the passenger's seat of the car moments before Vasquez was run over.
Destiny and Edwin Torres were both taken into custody almost immediately after officers boxed their car in, as well as a third suspect who has not been identified.
Patalano said everyone involved in the disturbance knew one another, and noted that Destiny and Edwin Torres appear to be cousins. It's unclear exactly what led up to the disturbance, the stabbing and the murder.
Destiny Torres has been charged with felony assault with a dangerous weapon, while Edwin Torres was charged with first-degree murder. Patalano said the third suspect was charged with disorderly conduct.
Both Destiny and Edwin Torres are currently being held without bail. Destiny Torres was ordered not to contact the stabbing victim nor his family, and Edwin Torres was told not to contact Vazquez's family.
