Director and Producer Karan Johar has finally announced his next, Dhadak 2. The upcoming movie will mark the official sequel to the 2018 film Dhadak. Its star cast has finally been revealed and is a fresh pairing in Bollywood. Triptii Dimri will play the leading lady opposite Siddhant Chaturvedi in this romance drama.
For the unversed, Dhadak was an official remake of the Marathi blockbuster Sairat. Janhvi Kapoor made her Bollywood debut opposite Ishan Khatter in the movie. The film also saw Ashutosh Rana, Shalini Kapoor, Aditya Kumar, Shridhar Watsar, and others in supporting roles. While the movie came out to be a success, it received mixed reviews from the audience. Many mentioned that the film lacked in its plot. However, it gave a kickstart to Janhvi Kapoor’s acting career.

Karan Johar recently took to his social media to officially announce Dhadak 2. As per the title teaser, the movie will highlight a sensitive social issue of castism. Helmed by Shazia Iqbal, the upcoming movie will seemingly have a lot of drama focusing on two lovers from different castes.
The caption read, “Yaha kahani hai thodi alag kyuki ek that raja, ek thi rani, jaat alag thi, khatam kahani (This story is a little different because there once lived a king and a queen – the caste was different…end of the story).”
Along with the announcement, the makers also unveiled the movie’s release date. Dhadak 2 will officially hit the theaters on November 22, 2024.

Dhadak star Ishaan Khatter reacted to the announcement and wished the movie’s team the best. He commented, “Best of luck, sir – and to the team! @siddhantchaturvedi @tripti_dimri @shaz.3.0.”
On the work front, Triptii Dimri was last seen in the 2023 blockbuster Animal. Her fan following increased to manifolds with the movie and she has reportedly been offered several new projects. Besides Dhadak 2, she will also feature in the upcoming movie Bad News starring Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk.
