Steve Kerr Unimpressed by JJ Redick’s Unfair Decision With LeBron & Co. Despite Blowout Win Over Lakers

The Lakers vs the Warriors—what more do you need for a blockbuster? That too in back-to-back battles! NBA fans were super excited for another matchup between LeBron James and Stephen Curry. But with the latter dropping back with a finger injury, LeBron didn’t play. Not only LeBron but Anthony Davis and most of the Lakers starters were rested. Does the fixture still look interesting? No, right? That’s how Steve Kerr felt when he got to know about JJ Redick’s selection. Kerr was unimpressed by the unfair decision of the Lakers head coach.
Following the victory, Kerr took a seat in the presser to discuss the aspects of the game. Though Kerr applauded his team’s performance, the Warriors HC pointed out how unfair the night went. “Tonight obviously was not a fair fight given, that the Lakers sat all their guys,” Kerr noted.
“But it didn’t take away from the way we played, how hard we played. And so yeah. I’m really pleased with with our progress to this point, and, it’d be fun to get started for real.” Redick didn’t want to take a risk by playing a 39-year-old LeBron in consecutive games ahead of the season opener, which disappointed Kerr. But a re-match in the new season could certainly cheer him up.
Looking at the Lakers’ thin lineup, one could anticipate that the game would end up in favor of the Dubs. And they lived up to it by beating the Lakers 132-74. Bronny James showed real progress with his 17 points, but it didn’t work out well for the team.
On the flip side, Kerr emphasized the offensive rhythm that his team executed during the game and throughout the preseason. However, he is aware that the challenges will intensify when the season starts. Besides talking about the possible combination that GSW will try in the regular season, Kerr shared updates about Curry.
Steve Kerr discusses Stephen Curry’s return and the Warriors’ possible starting lineup
For those eagerly awaiting an update on Curry’s finger injury, you can breathe a little easier as some good news has emerged. The 36-year-old is expected to be available for the Warriors’ first matchup against the Blazers, according to Steve Kerr. Before the final preseason game, Kerr mentioned that he learned during halftime of the previous game that Curry’s injury was not too concerning.

During the press conference, when the media wanted to know about the starting lineup, Kerr said, that he had to play De’Anthony Melton in Curry’s place. “But those other 4, we’ve talked about kind of an interesting combo with Wiggins, JK, Draymond, and Trace.”
Kerr went ahead to praise Melton for connecting so well with the team and Draymond Green for controlling the game despite not taking shots. With the positive approach that the team showed in the preseason even after losing Klay Thompson, there is strong hope for them in the 2024-25 season.
