China unveils full land, sea and air nuclear triad for first time at largest ever military parade

By Patrick Reilly
Chinese President Xi Jinping stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un for the first time ever during China’s largest-ever military parade showcasing its nuclear triad.
The trio of dictators stood together smiling in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square on Wednesday during China’s massive celebration marking 80 years since Japan’s defeat in World War II. It was a historic show of authoritarian strength and a clear message of deterrence against the United States and its allies in the region.
The stunning power flex included China’s first ever display of its full nuclear triad of weapons, which can be deployed from the land, sea and air — including an upgraded intercontinental ballistic missile with a range of 12,400 miles and other new war tech.

“The great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is unstoppable,” Xi said, and his call for the construction of a “world-class” military, CNN reported.
Xi earlier in the week revealed his vision of a new world order at a regional security summit where he called for unity against global “hegemonism and power politics” — a dig at the United States and President Trump’s sweeping tariffs, which have strained long-standing alliances.

China’s new torpedo-shaped drones and array of hypersonic triad weapons could pose a threat to the US and its allies’ interests in the region as it asserts greater control over the seas, experts said.

“The combination of the (sea) … drones they have and also the missiles, it will create an area that external navies couldn’t even enter to intervene,” said James Char, a China defense scholar at Singapore’s S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies.
Also on display was China’s new battle tank, the Type-100, which is equipped with new high-tech systems, including air defenses and reconnaissance drones.

Putin and Kim are among the two dozen largely non-Western leaders to attend the event.
After the parade, Putin and Kim held a meeting behind closed doors for more than two hours, in which Putin invited Kim to visit Russia. Putin had earlier thanked North Korean soldiers for joining Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
