Democratic governors testify before House on sanctuary state status

by The Hill Staff -
Democratic governors from three “sanctuary states” will face questioning Thursday morning before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on their status as a refuge for migrants.
Lawmakers will hear testimony from Democratic Govs. Tim Walz (Minn.), Kathy Hochul (N.Y.) and JB Pritzker (Ill.) on their policies amid days of unrest over President Trump’s sweeping immigration agenda and Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids in Los Angeles.
The White House on Wednesday said more than 330 people have been arrested amid the protests.
The hearing comes after Trump earlier this year proposed executive actions targeting sanctuary cities his administration said were not complying with federal efforts to crack down on illegal immigration.
