Girl, six, locked in her room her entire life is finally freed after cruel parents are arrested

A six-year-old girl who was kept locked inside her room her whole life has been rescued by Brazilian police.
The child, who was found in a state of neglect, was removed from her parents' care after cops received an anonymous tip about her welfare, Brazilian news outlet Universo Online reports.
She never attended school, had not received any vaccinations and didn't know how to speak, prompting authorities to rescue her from her family home in the city of Sorocaba in Sao Paulo state.
Speaking about the state the six-year-old was found in, child protection counsellors Ligia Guerra said: 'The girl was very apathetic and dazzled by everything.'
She added that the child's hair was 'tangled' and looked 'as if it had never been washed'.
According to Guerra, the girl had not eaten anything that day, with police confirming she only ate liquids.
She is also said to have communicated with counsellors and police officers through sounds.

The girl's parents have now been arrested and are being held in police custody

Her parents have been arrested and charged with unlawful detention and remain in police custody.
According to police chief Renata Zanin, 'the mother cannot grasp the gravity of the situation'.
She also said that when interrogated, the mother 'gave evasive answers' and 'showed no remorse whatsoever'.

The horrific incident comes months after a couple were arrested for alleged child abuse in Spain after police raided a house and found three boys that had lived there alone for four years.
Spanish police said the house was in a disgusting state, with hoards of rubbish and mountains of accumulated medicines. Surfaces were covered in filthy pet excrement and the family also had a cat with a massive tumour.
The children, two eight-year-old twin boys and their ten-year-old brother, were found wearing nappies and discovered they were forced to sleep in caged beds during their ordeal.
The 'house of horrors', as investigators dubbed it, was discovered in Oviedo, the capital city of Asturias in northern Spain.
The three young boys were freed, having apparently lived solely in the house for four years since the Covid crisis.
The motivation of the parents for keeping the children locked in their own home is not yet known, but the youngsters were all wearing three face masks each when they were discovered.
The American mother, 48, reportedly told police that she and her German husband, 58, thought it was the best way to keep them safe.
In shocking scenes, the children were kept out of school and forbidden to leave the house. Doors were locked and the windows were permanently closed. The children were not even allowed to go into the garden.
