Newly-offered TE Tae’shaun Gelsey sets Florida official visit
The new addition to the Gators’ big board at tight end has scheduled his next trip to Gainesville.
In fact, it will be for an official visit at the end of this month.
Tae’shaun Gelsey, a 3-star prospect from Jacksonville (Fla.) Riverside, is returning to Florida on May 31-June 2, multiple source told Gators Online.
Last night, GO reported that an official visit was already in the works; now, it’s official.
Florida tight ends coach Russ Callaway is sorting through a deep big board and positioned nicely for a few of them, including Mississippi native Micah Jones. Like Gelsey, he is also taking an official visit on May 31.
Gelsey, however, might be more realistic heading into the summer.
The in-state product has been on UF’s radar for months and logged multiple visits as well. Then you have the proximity factor, as Florida is the Power-Four program closest to the 2025 prospect’s home.
The Gators, according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, are trending with odds of 78.5 percent.
Additional offers on the table for Gelsey include Auburn, Kentucky, West Virginia, Indiana, UCF, Boston College, Cincinnati, Maryland and Wake Forest.
Gelsey has a high ceiling at tight end
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, the 6-foot-4, 210-pound Gelsey is the No. 32 tight end and No. 597 prospect overall.
Florida labels him a tight end/athlete, so there is some offensive versatility for the pass catcher. A player comparison in that role is Arlis Boardingham.
During the 2023 season, Gelsey hauled in 48 passes for 859 yards and nine touchdowns at wide receiver.
