Major UK car dealership chain to shut FOUR more sites in days as dozens of staff left ‘blindsided’ & facing axe

A MAJOR car dealer is set to shut four more locations leaving dozens of employees facing being sacked.
This comes after the motor company announced that it would close two other branches just last week.

Marshall Motor Group decided it would “downsize” its relationship with the car company Stellantis.
The firm revealed it will axe four Stellantis branches across the country.
These will include the company’s Peugeot dealerships in Canterbury, Ashford, and Peterborough.
The brand will also shutter its Vauxhall dealership in Peterborough.
These locations will close from March 31.
Employees at these locations were reportedly “blindsided” by this shocking news, according to Car Dealer Magazine.
Staff were reportedly told about the sad news on February 28.
An employee claimed: “We were blindsided by it to be honest, we just didn’t see it coming.
“When the directors came down to tell us last week, they said it wasn’t linked to performance and basically it’s because Marshall is downsizing its number of Stellantis sites for whatever reason.
This staff member shared why they were particularly upset by this surprise decision.
They said: “We just couldn’t believe it really. You could say that our sales are hardly setting the world alight but looking at the data we are nowhere near being the worst.
“When it comes to aftersales we are right at the top of every metric. We’re all finding it pretty perplexing to be honest.”
The chain said it was working to ensure there was “minimum disruption” to its staff and operations.
Dozens of staff could face being made redundant if no alternative work offers are made to them.
Marshall Motor Group said it was working to try and find work within the company.
MORE LOSSES
This comes just days after the automotive company revealed it would close two other branches.
The chain’s Volkswagen dealerships in Horsham and Aylesbury are expected to shut at the end of March.
Staff were said to be in “total shock” after they were told that they could be out of work as a result of the closures.
An insider told Car Dealer Magazine: “No one knew anything about it, not even the managers, so it did come as a total shock.”
