In school, they teach us that there are five senses: touch, sight, sound, smell, and taste, but not all of them are treated equally. Many of us take sight and sound for granted, that is until someone abruptly turns out the light and you find yourself riddled with uncertainty. And we love to touch. I'll go into a store, touch everything just to see what it feels like, and leave having purchased nothing. But what about smell and taste? Don't they say that taste is 95% smell or something like that? Where does that leave taste alone? Writers de-value these senses too.
