It comes after an explosive row between the pair last week in which Trump described Musk as a "big-time drug addict".
Musk went after Trump with posts that included insinuation the president was named in the so-called Epstein files.
While Musk did not immediately specify which comments he regretted, the Epstein post has since been deleted.
The Tesla and SpaceX boss had blasted Trump's flagship spending bill as a "disgusting abomination".

He also called for Trump to be impeached during the lengthy online row.
Trump has called his spending plans a "big, beautiful bill", but Musk believes it could further balloon America's national debt.
The president said during the row that he had "no intention" of speaking to Musk.
"I think it’s a very bad thing because he’s very disrespectful," Trump said.
Musk was one of Trump's most vocal supporters and financial backers during last year's presidential election.
But despite playing a prominent role in the president's new administration, he has criticised some of Trump's key policies.

He also attacked the president's tariffs during last week's spat, saying they would "cause a recession in the second half of this year".
Musk even floated the prospect of starting a new political party.
Trump hit back in an interview with ABC News, saying Musk had "lost his mind".
He also threatened to cancel US government contracts with Musk's companies.
But while Musk has climbed down from some of his comments last week, it is still unclear if the pair have fully reconciled.
US House Speaker Mike Johnson previously told ABC's This Week he hopes "these two titans can reconcile".
He added: "There’s a lot of emotion involved in it, but it’s in the interest of the country for everybody to work together."
Trump also warned there would be "serious consequences" if Musk went on to support his political rivals.
Speaking to NBC News, he cautioned Musk against financially backing Democrats opposed to his spending bill.
Trump said: "If he does, he'll have to pay the consequences for that.
"He'll have to pay very serious consequences if he does that."
