The Budget session of the Parliament will begin on Monday, July 22 and the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget on Tuesday, July 23. The session will conclude on August 12, 2024. The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha had commenced on June 25, 2024 and ended on July 4. This will be the first budget presented by the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in its third term amid high anticipation following President Droupadi Murmu's assertion that it will be marked by many historic steps.In her address to a joint sitting of Parliament, President Murmu had said major social and economic decisions will be a highlight of the budget. An interim budget was presented in February due to the Lok Sabha polls, which were held in April-June.Budget 2024 Date and TimeFinance Minister Sitharaman will present the Union Budget for 2024-25 on Tuesday July 23 at 11 a.m in Lok Sabha, Parliament, New Delhi. FM Sitharaman will be presenting her 7th Budget on July 23 under the Modi 3.0 government. Sitharaman also holds the distinction of delivering the longest budget speech at two hours and forty minutes in 2020. Her budget speech was the shortest-ever lasting 56 minutes earlier this year in February when she presented the interim budget ahead of the elections. A year earlier, in 2019, Finance Minister Sitharaman did away with the traditional Budget briefcase and instead went for a 'bahi-khata' with the national emblem to carry the speech and other documents on a tablet computer, a tradition she stuck to on February 1.
