The alleged Sabrina Carpenter and Camila Cabello feud talk boils down to two verses from the former’s song “Coincidence” and a chorus in “Taste.” Here she seems to be calling out Shawn Mendes for cheating on her with his ex-girlfriend Cabello. Mendes and Cabello had dated for two years between 2019 and 2021.
The “Coincidence” verses go like this:
Verse 1:
“The second I put my head on your chestShe knew, she’s got a real sixth senseNow her name comes up once, then it comes up twiceAnd without her even bein’ here, she’s back in your lifeNow she’s in the same damn city on the same damn night”
Verse 2:

Meanwhile, the “Taste” chorus, wherein she also seems to involve Cabello, goes like this:
“I heard you’re back together and if that’s trueYou’ll just have to taste me whn he’s kissin’ youIf you want forever, I bet you doJust know you’ll taste me too”
Right around this time, Cabello released a TikTok video singing some lyrics from her song “June Gloom.” These lyrics seemed to parallel the lyrics from “Taste” and “Coincidence.” The comments section included some references to Carpenter and the alleged love triangle involving her, Shawn Mendes, and Cabello.

Carpenter and Mendes initially sparked dating rumors in February 2023. This was after celebrity scooper account DeuxMoi claimed the two were spotted on a dinner date in Los Angeles. They were later spotted hanging out together in L.A. (via US Weekly). They also attended Miley Cyrus’ album release party and were spotted leaving the event together. The rumors further intensified when fans noticed Mendes wearing a necklace bearing Carpenter’s birth stone.

Entertainment Tonight eventually confirmed via a source that they were “seeing each other.” However, things got complicated when Mendes and Cabello were spotted kissing each other at Coachella in April 2023. Subsequently, rumors began propping up online, suggesting Mendes and Cabello were getting back together. This would explain the aforementioned verses from Carpenter’s “Coincidence” and “Taste.”
Cabello addressed the rumors in March this year during an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast. Here she confirmed that she and Mendes tried to make things work but eventually realised it “didn’t feel right.”
However, there does not seem to be any issues between Carpenter and Cabello outside of their professional life. The “Never Be the Same” singer even praised Carpenter’s hit track “Espresso.” However, the two do not seem to be following each other on Instagram.
