3-3 Draw for CF10 Houston FC and Denton Diablos FC

By Elizabeth Pazmino Ocampo/CF10 Houston FC
Thursday night featured a matchup between host CF10 Houston FC and the visiting Denton Diablos FC at the Village School in Houston.  CF10, led by head coach Jimmy Kruger, was strong throughout the game and was able to salvage a 3-3 draw.

CF10 set out to defend their home turf from the beginning of the match, and it was an organized team.  In the 17th minute the Diablos were already playing good football with mid-range shots that forced goalkeeper Ben Aviles Vera to stretch.  Maycol Reyes, who possessed a good leg for shots from distance, was encouraged to try his luck early.
The Diablos took the 1-0 lead in the 21st minute with a goal from Evan Lupo.  The teams went to halftime with that same 1-0 scoreline, confident that they would come out with a winning mentality.

After a mistake by CF10 in the middle of the field, Denton would double their lead with a goal from Cooper Tea in the 74th minute.  Thato Meko made it a 3-0 lead for the Diablos just one minute later.

Houston would answer with three goals of their own: two penalty conversions from Aidan Morrison and one goal from Daniel Castro to close out the match.  Morrison’s brace was truly the difference maker, helping the home team mount a serious challenge to the former NPSL national champions.
The comeback from CF10 was impressive yet both teams left the match with a single point.

CF10 Houston FC will face FC Brownsville at Brownsville Sports Park on Monday, June 10.  Houston and Brownsville will have a rematch on Wednesday, June 26 at the Village School.
