WWE star John Cena reveals shock past cancer diagnosis

John Cena has revealed that he was previously given a shock cancer diagnosis following years of neglect.
In an interview with People, Cena explained that he thought he would never be affected by it.
He said that he had consistently opted out of using any sun cream, despite consistent exposure to the sun after he moved from New York to Florida.
Cena said: 'I was stubborn. I didn't want to have a routine and I also thought the problem would never reach me.
'And it's one of those things where I had a ton of exposure with minimal protection and it caught up with me,' he reveals.
It wasn't until I went to a dermatologist and got a skin checkup and had a cancerous spot removed from my right pec [that Cena started wearing sun cream]'.

While he was able to have the spot removed without an issue - the wrestling legend was referred to a dermatologist.
Cena also singled out his skin doctor for praise, admitting he was very fortunate to have a supportive professional throughout the process.
He was required to have another mole removed a year later that left a mark close to his right shoulder.
Asked on what advice he would give to anyone about wearing sun block, the 47-year-old noted: 'It's something you should exercise to allow you to be who you are for a longer period of time'.
'We all love to get out there on a sunny day and enjoy what the world has to offer. Just take that one extra step'.
This has seen him team up with skincare brand Neutrogena to launch a protective lotion with an SPF of 70+.
According to popular skincare brand Nivea, a sunscreen product with SPF 50 provides approximately 98% protection from UVB rays, as opposed to around 96.7% provided by products with an SPF of 30.

Regardless of the product that sun-seekers end up purchasing no level of SPF protection can be guaranteed to protect you from skin damage caused by excessive exposure to the sun.
Advice from the NHS states: 'Sunburn increases your risk of skin cancer. Sunburn does not just happen on holiday. You can burn in the UK, even when it's cloudy.
'There's no safe or healthy way to get a tan. A tan does not protect your skin from the sun's harmful effects.'
It also says you should opt for 'an SPF of at least 30 to protect against UVB with at least 4-star UVA protection'.
