Episode 5 starts with Principal Caldron giving a speech and opening the Grand Magic Festival. The event begins with a sky race, in which Lihanna showcases her expertise by surpassing her last year’s record. Meanwhile, Colette asks Sion to join her and Will’s team. They need him to make it up to 21000 credits, which is a requirement to participate.
Despite Sion’s reservations, he agrees to join the team. Elsewhere, the scouts have gathered from all around to watch and scout young mages. While the host welcomes everyone, the elves begin to create the field for the Crown Attack game, which will see students rush to the middle of the stadium to seize the crown. Professor Workner is stunned to see Will among the participants. However, he tells him he has to do it even if he is made a laughingstock.

The game begins, and Will’s team easily maneuvers past the obstacle course thanks to clever teamwork by Will and Colette. They arrive at the badlands, and Colette summons swords for Will to use. While this is happening, Sion stands bothered by the fact that someone like Will can be this strong. The team then makes it to the final zone. Meanwhile, Julius notices Will’s team has gotten ahead and goes over to deal with Will.
Will easily dismantle the traps placed by Professor Edwards, and they prepare to corner Julius. However, Julius attacks him immediately after. Sion then prepares a devastating spell and shoots it in Will and Julius’ direction. However, Colette quickly erects a stone wall to protect Will. Julius emerges unscathed and separates them, leaving Will to deal with Sion. The episode ends with Sion challenging Will to a fight.
